Quorra Update

Only a short update. Started adding detail to the front/face of the helmet this afternoon. The weather sucks here today so focusing on lighter areas until it warms up again. :)

Quorra News!

Morning guys,

So while I'm waiting on a resin order, I thought I'd make the most of the weather and "free time" yesterday to get more work done on my Quorra helmet build.

It was time to dig out the Bondo/filler and sand paper again to try and bring the project closer to the finish line!

The front was already in pretty good shape when I last worked on this but there were little air holes in the filler to fill, some edges to sharpen up and a rough looking chin to take care of. I started on those areas first before moving to the back of the helmet to start smoothing and detailing that area.

It was a day well spent I think and the lid's looking a lot better for it. I'm hoping to get more done on it today but we'll see how that goes.

Senate Commando

Time for an update! Well, long overdue for an update actually. LOL!

I've been under the weather lately so haven't been doing much but I'm back on my feet now and ready to get cracking again! My current outstanding orders for helmets are just about caught up on and I'm hoping to finish some commissions over the next week.

For anyone waiting on Senate Commando news, the mold is done!! All that remains is the fibreglass mother mold and a separate mold for the tall crest/plume. I'm hoping to have one cast over the weekend. If you're interested in one or anything else that I can help you with then as always, feel free to get in touch!!

Another one ready to go!

Nothing to add to the title really. LOL! Another Snow/Flame Clone helmet cast and ready go go out the door.

In this pic though you'll see the greeble parts. Three little strips(resin) for the vocoder(mouth), and two resin cast(with bolts cast inside the resin for easier fitting) aerators.

Snow/Flame Trooper: First Cast!

So then. The new resin arrived late this afternoon and I couldn't wait a single second before I was setting up to do a test cast on the Snow/Flame Clone.

First, I'm not entirely happy with this new resin from a new supplier but I've got enough of it for a few helmets so I'll reserve judgement for the time being. It takes slightly longer to cure and doesn't flow quite like the brand I'm used to but there we go. Try something new...

I used just under 1Kg of resin for the test cast and it popped out of the mould(a glove mould) with no trouble or tears so far(PHEW!!).

I'm really happy with the casting. It feels solid yet still light, the details are good and nothing was lost. Also, because I decided to make this mould thicker than my others it should outlast them all and doesn't create any lumps and bumps caused by thin silicone on the mould.

Really pleased with this and hope it's owner approves when he gets it. Can't wait to paint one up myself!!!
